Artist Statement:

I am An Italian Multidisciplinary Artist, living in the hills near Florence.
I have formed myself over time through the culture in which I grew up, personal vicissitudes, and still
unceasing study and practice of various disciplines: ceramist, designer, art and Design teacher, graphic
designer, and much more. This plurality of experiences allows me today to approach any artistic or
educational project with freedom from preconceptions and a transversal vision attentive to every point of
view.
I’m a figurative artist, actually I express myself mainly through painting and drawing.
Imperfection as a source of inspiration is a theme very close to my heart.
I have faced cancer five times; this condition has directed the way I make art. I paint with oil colors on OSB,
a wood made of pressed chips, because it restores the sense of the material (sometimes I spread the color
with my fingers, caressing it like ceramics) and because the irregular chips break up the brushstrokes and
figures, giving meaning and redemption to my scars.
I have been married to a woman and have two daughters, I discovered and embraced my homosexuality
in adulthood. The slight background of each of my works is the nuances of love in all its expressions.
Painting male bodies means expressing my own personal nature, reconnecting with a millennial artistic
tradition, and attempting to actively respond to contemporary society. In my vision eroticism is a natural
element, it is a window through which to connect to the many facets of being human. My art-making is a
constantly evolving path. Each work lives by dialoguing with the viewer.
In 2018, dialoguing constantly with Marco Tonucci who is colorblind Deuteranope, the Colorblindness
Creativity Project was born. It’s a creative/educational project exploring colorblindness as a source of
inspiration to improve accessibility and social integration.
Colorblindness has also influenced the way I make Art: I use few colors and prefer those that allow a
colorblind person to see my paintings in the same way I see them, nullifying differences, creating
accessibility and awareness.

Bio:

Being born in Florence on February 8, 1963, and growing up in a city so rich in beauty was perfect for me,
who has always been very curious, creative, and a lover of drawing since childhood. I made my first painting
at the age of 11.
I began my studies at the Art Institute for Ceramics in Sesto Fiorentino. I went on to attend the faculty of
History of Contemporary Art at the University of Florence under the guidance of Antonio Del Guercio,
thanks to whom I also learned the basics of conceiving and setting up exhibition events. I refined my drawing technique at Mary Ann Luchetti’s school during the same years. To this day I still love to learn and
study deeply: every choice in my work is supported by a why.
